What should I do in my back swing to hit my golf drives further? Now during the back swing it’s all about winding up power generating the base to unleash speed through impact. Now to build up more power during the back swing there’s lots of things you can do but just try and follow this guide to produce the maximum amount of power you can. You’re on the ball position, just inside the left heel. You want the body to be set with the weight even, the chest and the head to be slightly set behind the ball. Now from there it’s all about extension, it’s all about width, and it’s all about turn. Extend that club head away from the ball, turning the shoulders, rotating the body until you get to the top of the back swing.

Now from here you want to feel that the club and the hands of being pushed a long way, away from the body and that the shoulders have turned fully and that that’s resisting and turning against the firm and stable lower half. If you can get those factors together you are going to have a massive shoulder turn; a massive amount of width but also the ability to turn back through. If you do that big width and that big turn but allow those hips to rotate, you’re not going to have the same amount of consistency firing back through the ball. So get yourself set up, turn as far back as you can, as wide as you can and then try and keep the lower half steady so you can turn and unleash through the ball. And if you get all those factors working together, you are going to be hitting some very long shots.
