Clearing your hips is a fundamental part of a good downswing and efficient ball striking technique. In this video PGA professionals Pete Styles and Matt Fryer will explain which aspects of your swing may be stopping at you from clearing your hips currently. They will explore if a lack of confidence or flexibility issues could be creating the problem and how this relates to striking the golf ball poorly which is often attributed to a lack of hip clearance.
Golfers may well understand the terminology of clearing their hips the concept that the hips should be into the downswing but there are some golfers that still can't get the motion to happen. Definitely, now Matt and I are here trying to explain to you today how you can move your hips better clear your hips but also how you you might be struggling what of the reasons why golfers struggle. So give me a reason why golfers might struggle with the concept of clearing their hips through impact please Matt.
Yyeah definitely I think from the 1st bit here it stems on that has a chain effect. So when we see people who aren't clearing the hips and the very passive down at the bottom very inactive lower half one of the common things that we tend to see is a poor strike. So we'd see someone who's all of a sudden not quite getting it they get the fat one they got the thin one the patter in the face a little bit the shots aren't the prettiest then that then leads into a bit of a confidence issue. So if I'm stood and I know that I'm not striking it while I'm not playing my best golf at the minute the likelihood of me actually pulling the trigger and going full out on it is less.
