So we're talking about pitching set up. Our pitching is a big broad subject because obviously you can pitch the ball a hundred yards but you could also pitch the ball thirty or forty yards. So actually the set up for the shots vary slightly if you're going to hit a hundred yard pitch we are almost hitting it like a normal shot. The stance is going to be fairly square and maybe marginally open the ball position center not too far back. A lot of folks make the mistake of having the ball too far back and then they're leaning trying to scoop it. So remember you just want the ball fairly central ideally just below your sternum here, and when you play the shot we're trying to keep the shaft pretty neutral. We're not really putting the hands way ahead the loft of the club is going to do the work. So when we're swinging down to impact we want to return to this position with not a great deal of shuffling in, and on the bigger pitches don't forget we're swinging the arms back there and through the bigger contribution from the body.

Now as the shots get smaller and you're playing a shorter pitch we need a little bit more control for them to control the length of the stroke. So in this instance now you'll notice my stance is going to morph if you like slightly narrower and going to get a little bit more open and then a lean the shaft a little bit more forward. Cause my stroke shorter here I need to be able to get my body open encourage a bit of a pivot so by standing open I'm almost pre-opening my hips here to encourage the correct pivot and lean in the shaft forward because the full motion is not going to do that for me and this is going to encourage a better set up. So we're really going from the smaller stance with more shuffling feel. Shorter pitches to a more orthodox stands for the bigger pitches here were a little square the shafts more neutral for the bigger swings and between those you've got to fathom out with a bit of practice which one is best for the length of shot you're playing. So you morphing remember from a smaller stance to a bigger stance because not all these shots are the same thirty, forty, fifty yards you've got to get a feel for the correct stance. Each time with pinching the ball at the base of the arc remember letting the loft of the club do the work for you.
