Here we're going to look and learn at how to hit a draw with your driver to give yourself maximum distance off the tee. A draw simply is a golf shot that swings right to left in the air, starts to the right of the target line but it finishes in a controlled way to on the target line, so it swings right to left in the air but finishes on the target line. So very controlled shot and you'll find it’s a shot that gives you maximum distance because of the spin that you put on the ball. So what we're going to have a look at here is what you've actually got to do and how to hit that draw. So the golf club that I’ve placed on the floor is representing our target line, so the target is to the bottom of this line. Now as we go to swing the driver, we've got to set up in a way where we can swing the club on a swing path that’s moving in to out. And all that means is that this side of the target line, so this side of the golf club on the floor there is the inside and the far side is the outside. So we need to see that the club head is travelling from the inside to the outside, so along that red alignment pole that I've left on the floor there to represent that swing path. Now as that happens, we've got to look at what the club face is doing and to hit the draw, we need the club face aiming right at the target because that would start the ball to the right of the target, but it needs to be aiming inside the line or the direction of travel, the club is moving and so it needs to be aiming inside the red pole. So if I just put this alignment device and pull on to the club face, if I set my club this way, you can see that the club face is pointing to the right of the target line but is pointing to the left of the swing line.

So I'm going to keep my club aimed in that direction, and then I'm going to stand so I'm parallel to the redline, and then I'm going to hold my golf club. So in relation to my body, my golf club is closed, but its aiming left of the line I'm going to swing along which is the red line but it's not aiming left of the target line, its aiming right of that line. So now I'm just going to swing the club back along my red pole, and as I swing back in I'm going to really work on the club travelling along the red line, but as it connects with the ball you can see the alignment of the face is between the two lines. That’s now going to start the ball to go right, but because there's a difference between the line that I'm swinging along and the line that I'm aiming along, that would put a backspin on the ball which is tilted access spin. So the spin that’s now on the ball is going to make the ball curve and swing in the air and I'm going to hit that really soft draw. I need to finish on the target line. So work on that when you're at the range, make sure that your club face is aiming to the right of the target to start the ball on the right but it's going to be aiming left of where you're swinging. So set your feet more to the right than you're aiming and swing along your feet line, keep the club face aiming left of that but right of the target and you'll start to draw the ball and hit maximum distance golf shots.
