During this little mini series of tips I’m going to be talking to you about the backswing and particularly the takeaway element of the backswing to make sure we get that backswing correct. And as with the most things, if we can start the movement correctly then the rest of the movement will follow on nicely from there. But unfortunately a lot of golfers either don’t understand the importance of the backswing or they don’t know how to swing the club back correctly. And therefore once they make a mistake during the first, literally just the first two or three feet of their backswing if the club goes either on the wrong line or the different parts of the body, get the club in the wrong place or even if they just do it at the wrong speed they find that the backswing is incorrect and cause a myriad of knock-on consequences during the rest of the swing.
So during this next little mini-series, I’d like you to watch each of the videos, take onboard the points in terms of how the club should move and if you’re struggling to get it to move into the correct position, take onboard the drills that those videos contain about how we can move the club away from the ball in the correct fashion. Set the golf club into the top position nicely and then bring the golf club back down for a good strike. So we’re going to look at how the club should move? What should move it? What are the key checkpoints? How fast should we do it? And then some drills to backup all of that information. So hopefully you can watch next little mini-series of videos and that should improve your takeaway and how to start your golf swing correctly.
