As with most golf shots the quality of your set up is going to affect the impact you put on the ball. Now the impact you require for a bunker shot is different than the other short game shots. Many make the mistake of trying to play there but not like they're chip shots so they're leaning the shaft forwards and they're hitting down and this tends to result in too much of a steep attack on the golf ball. You're burying the club in the sand there's not enough momentum and you want with the ball out so it's essential you build the correct set up for the bunker shot. So I am going to recommend you stand a little wider, and the ball position is going to be forward near left chest here and one real key factor is let the shaft see vertical here or straight don't lean the shaft forward because that's going to dig the club in too much.
So let it sit nice and straight and when I recommend you have a weaker right hand grip. So this grip is on top not on the underneath and that's really key because what that grip does it opens the club face and puts a bit of loft on the club, and it also allows us to release the club correctly and use the bounce on the club. Finally it keeps a little bit more loft on the club here in the follow through. So this setup is going to encourage more of the U shape to blow rather than a V shape blow. From here we can sweep it off brush the sand and let the club interact with it correctly and that's going to pop the ball out. Let's give it a go so wide a stance weight slightly on the left, shaft nice, and neutral lazy swing. Great you try that you'll find is going to pop out successfully every time.
