Well there are many reasons why players hit that ball fat. You know you some players will release the club early but the majority of you if your hitting that ball heavy it's because your angle of attack is to steep. You're hitting down on up ball too much what we do know now with modern technology we're able to measure the angle of attack, and for example something like a 7 iron tour players on average are coming down about four degrees. Something to that approach to get that ball in there so what a small degrees look like it doesn't mean a lot to folks. Well obviously if we went to school we know this is going to 90 degrees and that's 45 and that's about 22 so that's 11 and half and five and a half so that's about 4 ish degrees here. This sort of angle so it's rather like if I popped a magnet on the club here it's rather like an aeroplane coming in to land on the runway. It's just coming in smoothly you're not burying this well head in the floor so you really do need to get the feel of this brushing approach of the club head on the floor rather than it is thundering down taking this rather large divot.

Now how are you going to get the feel of that? Well another little thing is if you've played baseball you know that when you hit a baseball you step into it. Notice how my spine tilts my shoulder goes up and the bat or the club in this case shallows. So getting this baseball motion will give you a feel of the club making the shallowing motion rather than a steeper. So one little tip you can do is just do some baseball feel swings and then gradually lower the arc. This is going to give you a feel of the angle of approach is necessary for hitting these shots. So in simple terms on the range or the golf course take your set up an grip do a few baseball swings about 3 or 4 feet off the floor low rate down to a couple of feet then lower it down a little bit more. This is starting to give you the feeling of that sweeping angle of attack that elusive 4 degrees once you've done a few of the then try that hitting the golf ball. So I'm going to brush this away now as in I strike club came in nice and shallow stop me in those fat shots got a good contact gave that drill a try I think you'll see here and striking really improve.
