As a golf coach delivering lessons on the less tee every day of the week I quite often talk about extension but I can talk about lots of different parts of a golf swing. So when you read the word extension just make sure you're applying it to the right context on the right phase in a golf swing I would say in my address position I have extension of my hands and arms. I create width due to extension in my backswing really important for a lot of golfers I see in the lesson tee is extending in the follow-through.
So the golfers generally get narrower and pulll in here so would say narrow is the opposite of extension and width. So extending through the ball is a key trait that we see a lot of the world bass players have a lot of amateur golfers struggle with extension through here. So I would therefore say extension is a really good thing in that part of your swing however there are parts of the golf swing where extension is not such a good thing.
