When we talk about the grip or holding the golf remember with full shots we want freedom and leverage and speed so we can hit the ball further, but of course in a putt it is exactly the opposite. We need more control more stability so it's really important you understand with the putting grip that this grip is a lot more palming. So we're going to run the club up the palm of the hand so rather than it running traditionally more diagonally across your hand as in a normal full stroke here we're actually bringing the putter down more in line with a must forearm here. So it's actually running under the forearm when I form my grip with my top hand and then my right hand I really want palm to target. So it's definitely a lot more side on with the putting grip rather than gripping it around in the fingers. Remember we're not after leverage we're after a lot more control now it's a matter of preference of where they have a thumbs down the side or your fingers down you side you may even see players use the claw grip all of the grips of the involved to keep the putter nice and stable and reduce any excessive hand action.
If we can keep the putter nice and stable more in the palms you're going to find that the club face is going to stay a lot more square at contact. Which is essential for putting a say in reduce the leverage in speed and encourage you to make the motion more from this rocking motion of your shoulders rather than a flicking of the hands. So let the lie of the putter dictate the grip he is going to run up the palm underneath my thumb pad. Guide it with my right hand I can overlap my fingers or interlock I can extend the little finger down from here is stability is the key almost get the feeling that your hands are just riding the putter they're not getting busy you're just going to let the rocking motion the pendulum motion do the rest. You find if you do this you will find you can knock a lot more those tricky three footers in.
