If you are thinking about what are the main advantages of hitting longer drives it’s quite obvious you are going to be much further down the hole with that longer drive and much closer to the green. And the closer you are to the green and the closer you will be coming to the target that you want to hit the ball to, the easier it is for you to get that ball close and accurate. So the further you can hit the ball off the tee and the closer you can get to the green, it makes it much easier without sucking shot into the green because you are hitting with a shorter club, you are hitting a shorter distance so you can be more accurate with it. So let’s have a look at how to get maximum distance from the tee. Once you set up we are kind of having the ball on the inside of your left foot so kind of in line with the in-step of your left foot and your left heel. Place the club head next to the ball and make sure your hands are over the top of the crown of the club. Don’t have your hands forwards or opposite the ball just over the top of the club is really good. And then set your head just to the right of your hands. So again you don’t want to lean your body over to the left. If you do this it turns your shoulders, opens your shoulders to where you want to hit your shoulders and now aiming left. And it makes it really difficult to turn well on your back swing. So we’ve got ball position inside the left heel, hands over the crown of the club and your head just to the right of your hands.

Work on making a really good back swings so really turn that upper body 90 degrees to the right of where it started and maintain a really straight left arm position as you do that. That’s going to make the club head travel on its maximum distance around you as it swings and the bigger the circle that the club head travels on the more time you’ve got to pick speed up. The more speed you put into the club head, the further you are going to hit the golf ball. So once you get your setup position really turn the upper body to the right 90 degrees with the shoulders, keep the left arm straight. You’ll see you hit the ball really long way doing that, maintain the balance as you swing through you’ll get a lot more distance much more power much more club head speed a much bigger golf shot and you’ll be so further down the fairway making it a lot easier to hit the green and hit close to the pin with that second shot into the green.
