One of the main issues that many people face when going through these types of routines is they know the lower half needs to be solid. They know about that turn on the way back, about the right knee rotating the hip. And they know about how to move the hips through and rotate. The problem can be when it starts to feel like all these individual pieces aren't coming together. Like it's being used as a little bit of a jigsaw piece, and there’s too many technical thoughts going through a golfer’s mind. Generally speaking when you start to improve a technique things can seem like this, because you're really focusing on the individual movements. You're really trying to focus on turning into certain positions. But when you've got through that initial awkward phase how can you let the power flow, how can you start to move through the ball with a lot more smoothness and a lot more rhythm.

A very simple way of doing this is focusing on where your belt buckle is throughout the down swing and then throughout the through swing. What you can do is once you've got the basics of the movements if you get yourself set up into a position, we’ve already spoken about that right knee in nice and strong. And on the way back just focus on the belt buckle, and as you turn back just focus on shifting that belt buckle. So it's just pointing out to the right of the ball here. So it's pointing out diagonally from the ball. If you are on a range mat, it’s probably going to pointing out towards the corner. Now what that means is that the hips have rotated. And if you carry on the backswing you are going to rotate it about forty five degrees in relation to your shoulders and no need to only to think about this. This is all about freeing the mind up. So turning that belt buckle back as we rotate away and as you come through, move the belt buckle left and then turn and rotate as much as you can until it’s pointing out towards the left of the target. Now what this will do it will allow a golfer to switch off from some of the big technical thoughts that we’ve already spoken about after practicing for them for a while. Turning the belt buckle back and through, it will allow the body to have that extra rotation and to actually move through the shot without having to think about it so much. So after you’ve broken down that lower half movement and how the back leg is working, work on the belt buckle positions and hopefully you can flow through the swing with a little bit more power.
