When And How To Use A Power Fade Golf Swing (Video) - by Peter Finch

If you are looking to use a power fade golf swing, there are certain situations when it will work the best. So for example, a dogleg left to right or if you are trying to curve the ball from left to right on a whole, to hold it up, or to generally shift the ball in that direction, there are many different circumstances that you would want to be using here. However, how can you practice it? How can you get used to the positions and how can you get used to the sensations? There’s a very easy drill that you can use. Just within an alignment stick, picking out your target line, so where you want the ball to eventually finish, what I'm going to do is I'm just going to pull an alignment stick over here in front of the ball.

Now, if I was to hit a perfect shot, I would strike that alignment stick, if I was to hit a perfectly straight golf shot. But what I want to do is get myself set up with my feet out a little bit further left than they would be, my shoulders nice and square, and my whole sensation here is to get the ball started to the left of the alignment stick and to allow it to fade around to the right-hand side. It’s using a visual aid like this to really focus the mind and focus the body. So it’s getting set up directly over my target line, I have got my weight put on my feet, I am going to keep those shoulders square, I am going to squat down into impact, move from the inside, starting that ball left and then curving it around to the right-hand side. Overall, I’d say that was a pretty successful demonstration. But it is a fantastic drill to use. So give it a go, get that body set up, curve it around the alignment stick using that setup, it will give you a real visual sensation of what you want to achieve.
