When we have a conversation about the arms in the golf swing it's really important to understand the role that the arms should play but also the role that the arms shouldn't play. I think for a lot of beginning golfers when they're learning to play the game I think the arms probably play too much of an important role. It's kind of fundamental that when you've played all the sports you might have picked up a tennis racket and just hit it with your arm when you picked up a ball and thrown it. You throw it with your arme it's only when your skill develops you realize that yes your arms have a role in those sports but actually the body can play a massive part as well. That relates very very heavily to golf when we give somebody a golf club for the 1st time put a ball in front of them and say hit that for a lot of people it's an arms swing that they use. They swing their arms backwards and forwards they try and lift the ball into the air with the arms and as you saw there generally they don't get a great contact on the ball. So we need to know that yes the arms are really important they do a very very important job but they do an important job in conjunction and in unison with the rest of the body.
