It could be argued that any time you mishit your shot for direction in you it goes left or right you could argue that the golfer hasn't had control of the club face. I think for a greatest extent when we see golfers who continually repeat the same bad shot be it a slice or be a hook again we would argue that they don't have control of the club face, and some golfers I say you know are you trying to control the club face their impact and you say no I don't even know what you mean by that concept and you think well that's the bit that hits the ball the club is the bit that hits the ball. So surely we've got to have control over the bit that hits the ball everything we do in the goal swing is designed to deliver that club head back to that ball in the best possible conditions to hit the shot we want. So we've got to be able to control it and some golfers they don't know how they've never been shown Here's a great exercise for you to help understand how you can control the club head the first thing we're going to do looking this way round which is going to stand with the feel a couple of inches apart that it's really isolates the body stops the body doing too much work and now we're going to think about hinging the club on the way back and hinging the club on the way through and effectively having your feet together stop your body doing too much work and it helps us focus on what the hands and arms are doing.

So it helps us focus on the hands and arms controlling the club head and also taken this a step further I've put a tee peg in the back of the book ten of my grip and I think that's a great way to understand what wrist hinge should look like. So stunning this way round my feet just a couple of inches apart there as I take the club back we can see that the club or the butt end of the club points directly down at the golf ball. If I wasn't using my hands well enough to butt end of the club would point to my body some not using enough hinge and likewise as I follow through if I don't own hinge my wrists again you can see the bottom of the club points no where near to the ball but if I hinge and release correctly the butt end is always going to point down at the golf ball on the back swing and the three swing. So we can start just by pitching a couple of balls that have got a nine using some wrist hinge on the way back and through so feet close together hinge and then hinge on the way through and again you can see I've stopped the club here so it points down towards that page on the ground where the ball was. So utilizing some wrist hinge here and here helps me control the club face you might see that when you do this the ball shoots off to the right side on the left side and that can either be under using or over using how you control that club face how you use your wrists to control the club face. The next time you start a practice session on the range just hit twenty or so balls off a small two pack with a nine iron to pick in the bottom here think about pointing the tee at the ball and hopefully that will help encourage better control of your club face by using your wrist change.
