So if you have now understood that you are having a problem shanking the golf ball and we can appreciate that you set up for the center but you hit from the heel. Clearly at some point during you're swing, this club is moving forward. It’s coming outside the line a little bit too much. We have to question where is that happening and how could we stop that happening. For most golfers it will be happening at the top of their swing in their transition phase.
So if I turn from side on so you can see down the line here. If I'm in a good position I'm not too close. I'm setting up correctly but I take the club to the top and then turn my shoulders. The club comes outside the line. It then comes from over the top in a classic slicing [phonetic] [0:00:51] position. I bring it over the top and I catch the neck of the golf club. I could be shanking it from that position. So we really need to be careful when we bring the golf club down. We come down on the same line as we went back up. Well, maybe even bring the club in a little bit. So a little bit of a backwards loop, taking the golf club to the top, little bit of a backwards loop and then keep the hands and arms nice and in as well. You have to be careful that sometimes shanks occur by being too flat and the hand is pushing away from you in the follow through. So don't throw your hands out too much, that could shank the ball as well. But if you can just flatten your plane slightly. Then keep your hands and arms quite close to your legs all the way through. You should be eradicating the shank shot and made you feel like you're playing a little bit more to the toe. So it’s a little bit of a pull in here and keep pulled in here. And the ball should be delivered more into the toe latent to the heel.
So the classic shank position is up and outside the line, chopping down in a slices position but catching the heel first. So a little bit more up, drop the club more behind the chest, stay in through the impact area and feel how you going to try and miss the ball on the inside or hit it from the toe purely to eradicate that shanking shot that you currently got.
