Why Is It So Important To Hit The Inside Of The Golf Ball (Video) - by Pete Styles

If you ever watch any golf instructions, read golf instruction or even watch in the TV, you'll often hear the commentators and the professionals talking about the inside of the golf ball. Hitting the golf ball from the inside and to – they're going to initiate so that people can look at and that’s all. How do you hit the inside of that? Surely, you got to hit the outside to hit the inside. Well, we don't talk about the inside and the outside as being the middle of the outside of the golf ball. We talk about the inside and the outside in relation to a target line. So let's lay a target line down sort of underneath that golf ball there. So imagine that line run directly underneath the ball, the inside is anything on this side of the line and the outside is anything on the far side. So if we're going to hit the inside of the golf ball, the club comes from this position and hit that section. So if we imagine a clock face, where as this is going to be 12 o'clock and this is going to be six o'clock. I am hitting the seven o'clock position, it's this side of the center and that would initiate a powerful and potentially a draw pattern to the golf ball.

So I'm hitting the inside and that's how I can draw the golf ball and hitting from the outside over this side. Which effectively would be the five o'clock side of the clock face hitting from the outside to the inside this way. That's generally going to be the pattern of swing that's going to create a slice. So for a lot of golfers, we're encouraging them to try and hit more of a draw shape. They feel more powerful, the ball can generally goes generally a bit further, a lot of people just think it's a prettier shot to look at and they're drastically trying to get rid of the slice. That's why you'll hear a lot of the commentators and professionals talking about trying to hit the inside part of the golf ball. So we're not talking about the inside part, we're talking about the inside bit. The side you're standing is going to be the section of the golf ball. So if these next few tips are going to encourage you to focus on the hitting the inside, show you how and why it's important to do so.
