As every golfer knows golf courses aren't short things sometimes over six even seven thousand yards long and we're going to try and whack this little white golf ball around in the fewest number of shots. So some point in your golfing life hitting the ball a long way is going to become fundamentally important to you. Even if at the moment you're thinking about accuracy and hitting on the fairway at some point it's going to be a case of right now I need to turn on the after burners and start to drive this ball a little bit further to help improve my skills. So what are the ways of hitting the ball further and what's the downside of hitting the ball further. So if you go for a period of time where you're thinking about trying to hit the ball further and further then one of the things that tell us that surely you possibly trying too hard because there's a reason why we don't all stand here and try and hit these balls hard as we possibly can the chances are if I stood here and gave it the most powerful swing I could ever make I would not be as accurate as if I was hitting it with a bit more of a controlled slower swing. So the issues that we might find when you're trying to hit the ball too hard are that between a little too hard you can lose balance you often see this on the T.V. You'll sometimes see Bubba Watson or even Tiger occasion when they're really gone smash one out there out the heavy long grass or even off the tee if they really try to head a big drive they'll follow through and maybe take a little step where we're used to these guys hit the iron shots with superb amounts of balance and holding that finish position all of the time.

So if you start to lose your balance it may be an indicator that you're striving to get too much power out of the shot and the other considerations might be that if you're trying too hard you lose your strike. So similar to losing your balance you're not able to deliver the club in the same position every single time. So you lose the quality of strike you get it too much in the time you get it too much in the heel too high to low and you're not hitting the middle. And conversely that actually hampers your distance rather than increasing in encouraging more this and actually causing more problems because you should be striking the Middle East time the other consideration is that you end up losing accuracy. So you're trying to hit as hard as you can you don't lose your balance you strike it out the middle but you know hit it all over the planet when it's landing on the fairway it's going to the left side the right side all sorts of areas in between. So again another indicator that you're trying to hit the ball too hard. Yes we want to hit the ball as far as we can yes we want you to be committed and hit the ball hard but if it's a sign that you're losing your balance you're losing your consistency of strike or you're hitting it all over the golf course potentially you're trying to hit it too hard and you need to dial it back a little bit.
