So are you playing inconsistent golf shots, well I suppose we could all be guilty of it, yes, of course we do it at some stage because we are only human beings at the end of the day. And what causes the inconsistent shots, well how much time have we got? In other words, it’s that many things that can cause those inconsistent golf shots. The one I want to target and it’s probably the most crucial element, which is all down to how you position your body over the ball, it's called the posture. I keep myself over the ball; we push out from the bottom, pushing the hips out, backbone in a 45-degree angle with the weight predominantly forward.
And from here, a slight knee flex with the weight down the front of your legs towards the balls of your feet so that's the position of the posture. And this is crucial because this is going to encourage you to pivot around this actually to the spine. So from here, you can see I have still got the same angle of the spine, as I started but I am more likely now to return the club back to the ball when I started. So posture, I would say is the biggest culprit that people kind of fall into that sort of mistake and cause your bad golf shots. So I want you to think about that, also what you can do is also see which parts of the clubface the ball has actually come out of.
Put a bit of ghost tape on the clubface or a bit of cello tape if you haven't got ghost tape and hit some golf balls. And whenever that golf ball has actually come out of the clubface, you're going to have an imprint of the dimples, so straightaway; you can actually see which part of the club. So like I said at the beginning, there is a massive, massive list of what can cause inconsistent golf shots, but the most important thing is that we want to eliminate the biggest cause in my opinion and that's the posture.
So don't worry about the other aspects, if you work on this posture and you think, no, I have got it right, then and you still are not going right, then A, I will be quite surprised, but B, most probably go along to see that PGA Pro because he is there to help you through situations where you can't see yourself in. And remember the problem isn’t one or two things, it could be half a dozen to a dozen different things. So work on the posture, that's what I would recommend, that is where most of the faults in opinion tend to come from and if that doesn't work, go and see that PGA Pro.
