Narrowing Down The Choices Of Golf Ball (Video) - by Peter Finch

When you have figured out the type of compression of golf ball that you may need, you then have to try narrow down which one to use. Now this is such a hard thing to do, because golf ball manufacturers there are many and even golf ball manufacturers produce balls that seem to contradict each other and do different things within their own range. It can be a big minefield of what to choose.

The best way to test is to choose a manufacturer who you like. So whether it would be a Titleist or a Bridgestone or a Srixon, it doesn’t really matter, all these ball manufacturers now make very, very good products. So pick yourself one of the manufacturers and then pick a selection of three balls which you like to look up. So a high compression or low compression and the mid-compression golf ball. And then go and test. Generally speaking you can narrow it down and say okay I have got a low swing speed, maybe a low compression golf ball would be better for me. But because that is this disagreement between even the golf ball manufacturers it would be unwise just to pigeon hole yourself into that category. So even if you think you are a golfer who needs a low compression, a high compression golf whatever it maybe test out within that manufacturer’s products, the other options as well. You may be quite surprised at some of the results. Often people go into a ball fitting saying oh, I really, really need a high compression golf ball, I swing so hard. And actually come out with a low compression golf ball because the distance changes weren’t that great and they liked the softer feel. So please don’t pigeon hole yourself, get a general gist of what you may want, pick your manufacturer and get a selection of those products and then go from there.
