Once we've set up to the golf ball will find ourselves in a nice address position here straight over the top of the ball and clearly we've got to create a back swing turn, but we want to make sure it is exactly that it's a back swing turn it's not really a slide. We sometimes see golfers set up the ball and I'll slide back this way and the more slide back through again. generally speaking it's not going to be a very powerful way of hitting the golf ball and quite often it can result in some poor strikes. So what is it we want to see in the back swing instead of a slide we want to see rotation and it's rotation really of the upper body over a more stable base. So we want to turn the upper body without having the bottom half sliding around too much.

So turning not sliding great exercise for you though would be to take a golf club slip over the back of your shoulder and then just drop your wrists and your forearms onto the shaft and from here you can stand looking into a mirror the mirror be where my camera is and we're going to practice turning rather than sliding. So you can notice here that I'm trying to turn my left hand down towards where the golf ball is here and I'm looking over my shoulder to see that rather than sliding across. So this is not a good powerful motion you see have created no shoulder rotation at all this turn down here is good and likewise the opposite way bringing the right hand an arm round this way is going to be good rotation through the ball once you've done that a few times looking in the mirror and making sure your head's not moving too much making sure your hips aren't moving too much but you are rotating nicely you can go ahead and hit a few shots with that same sensation with the idea that from here we turn nicely and we turn through nicely and we don't sway back and sway through. So hopefully utilizing that exercise and a mirror or a video camera in front of you like this will help give you the idea and the concept of rotating without sliding.
