In the golf setup not only is the feet alignment as in the direction where we're aiming them not only is that fundamentally important, but we also have to consider how the body weight and the weight shift happens during the golf swing as well. So when we start to set up to the ball here with the seven iron we've got the feet pointing in the right direction and that's one part of the setter but it's important we don't get all the body weight one way or the body weight the other, or too much movement. So I follow this principle from start to finish and it should encourage you to have a good weight shift during the swing in the address position of a mid iron we're going to have the body weight fifty fifty just really even between the two feet so pretty much how you would stand and wait for a us and then as we set up the ball we keep that fifty fifty until we stop the back swing. As we start the back swing the body weight will turn towards your rear foot slightly so for the right handed golfer the body weight will move across side around about fifty five sixty sixty five percent of body weight will now be on the trail foot.
From this position as we start the downswing so it's in transition as a club comes down towards a ball the body weight starts to move back across to the opposite side affectively driving back toward the target which is a great way of generating power toward the target. So can fifty five we go back to sixty five percent as the hips move back across the body weight starts to drive across and we get about ninety percent on the left side through the impact area so we're not hanging back at fifty fifty at impact it's not an area of setup it's very different to set up we're now much more on to the front start and to a finish. It's sort of ninety five ninety nine percent forwards and just a tiny little bit of balance here on this right tip toe just to finish the swing and it's important that you finish balanced again still aligned and facing towards target fifty fifty sixty five back ninety percent going forwards ninety nine percent going forward to a finish nicely balanced as well watching the ball land from this balance position and hopefully if you can do that you can shift your weight around within those parameters you'll be more consistent with your alignment and also with your balance points.
