To say that Bridgestone is an expert in the field of rubber is overstating the obvious with its #1 worldwide market share in tires. It is surprising, however, that the company has been making golf balls since 1935! And when the Bridgestone rubber experts say the B330 and B330RX are the best balls ever, it is time to take notice.
Based on over 300,000 ball fitting sessions and extensive research and development, Bridgestone divided golfers into two groups. One group is above 105 mph swing speed (B330) and the other below 105 mph (B330RX) which comprises 75% of all players. Both the B330 and B330RX are available in standard and extra spin versions. The key to the B330RX performance is the AmaTOUR core which is 28% softer than the average tour ball core. The core has a proprietary gradient which is softer in the center and firmer towards the outside. A typical multi-piece ball core is only uniformly firm so the single AmaTOUR core layer is able to perform in the same fashion as 2 or 3 layers. Simply stated, softer feel and longer distance. In fact, compared to the 2014 ball version, Bridgestone claims the 2016 version adds 5-8 yards of distance.
But what about spin? The SlipRes cover has more friction than any golf ball cover ever produced by Bridgestone. The extra friction means the ball grabs the grooves of wedges for stopping power on the green. All this performance does come with a price tag expected of a premium golf ball, however the rubber scientists made the cover to resist scuffs and last longer.
Check for a seam on the B330RX … it will not be found. The Bridgestone rubber geniuses went one step further with the manufacturing technology and produced a seamless cover.
So to Bridgestone, it seems obvious why the claim of “most consistent golf ball in terms of accuracy, distance and trajectory ever created” is the statement for the B330RX coronation.
