So if we’ve established now that a good golfer, one of the top players that you watch on TV. One of the things that makes their golf swing look so good is the fluidity of the golf swing. We’ve established that we’re going to try and strive to have that fluidity, but why? What are the benefits? Why should we have a fluid golf swing? Well, the things that we often see within a fluid golf swing are going to be great balance, so you see a tour player sets up the ball nicely, good looking back and through swing, holding that balance perfectly. We often see maybe the club or handicap golfer maybe looks a little bit off balance to start with, makes that swing and then maybe doesn’t hold that balance after the event. So a fluid golf swing will often look much like a balanced golf swing right way through form start to finish.

All the things that we can see in a good fluid golf swing are going to be nice light grip pressure, generally we see that golfers when they play the game, if they have a tight grip pressure they’ll often sort of – you can’t see a tight grip pressure from a stand position. That’s relaxed grip, that’s tight grip pressure, you can’t really see that. But my relaxed grip pressure would lead to a slow smooth take away yet my tight grip pressure would lead to a fast jerky takeaway and often that’s the difference between starting the swing in a fluid motion or a more jerky motion. So let’s make sure that when we set up to the golf ball, we’re firstly in good balance and secondly nice relaxed grip pressure should lead to a more fluid swing. And the third thing that we see in a fluid golf swing is often the correct sequencing of the body motions. So if I’m in a good address position we go ahead and make a good sequencing to the top, all little parts of the body working in unison to swing the club nicely. When we are out of sequence, what we’ll see is maybe the hands will move first, then the body will play catch-up, then the hands will move up to the top, then the hands will move down, then the body will play catch-up again. And it just looks very jerky; it just looks a little bit uncoordinated. So a fluid golf swing when done correctly has those key components, its well balanced, its rhythmical, the light grip pressure happens and the body is all sequenced nice and correctly. And hopefully you’ll get good golf swings that look nice and fluid and ultimately producing more consistence and better golf shots.
