Golf Feet Together Drill, Why Practice With Feet Together (Video) - by Peter Finch

Why do I see some people practicing with their feet together? Now one of the most common issues with the golfers is the consistency of strike and actually connecting with the ball out of the middle of the club face. Now when you see people actually practicing with their feet together in this manner and clicking away shots, what it’s to do with is actually trying to make sure that they connect and get the feeling of connecting with the center of the club face. What you will tend to find is when you get the feet together the actual angle of attacking your swing the arc will bottom out pretty much at the ball.

Now what that will cause you to do is actually restrict the length of the swing because with the feet together you can quite turn fully and transfer your weight fully, so restrict the length of the swing. It will make sure that the swing arc bottoms out at the ball and you should be able to connect with the ball pretty much in the same way every single time hitting nice little straight shots. Now you need to do this if you are struggling with the consistency of strike and once you practice this drill then you can start actually separating the feet a little bit more. And then a little bit more and then a little bit more right up until you get to the driver where you want those feet about shoulder width apart. So if you do see people practicing with their feet together it's all about creating a better centered strike, so if you are struggling give it a go, use that drill and then slowly widen the feet depending on what club you hit and hopefully that consistent strike will remain once you get into a more normal standard setup.
