As you may have noticed from watching the top professionals and from watching good players maybe at your club, there are a lot of different ways to actually swing this stick around your body. Now one of the ways to do it is with a more upright swing technique. Now what we do need to look at is what constitutes an upright swing, what constitutes a flat swing, what constitutes a normal playing swing? But an actual upright swing technique will give several advantages. As a rough away when you're actually swinging it within the upright technique, you will get into a nice solid posture, take the club away but as the club actually leaves the ball the shaft angle will start to get into this very vertical position here.
Now as the shaft angle gets into a vertical position, I want to slant pretty much pointing straight up at the sky, the arms will lift and the arms will become in a very high position here as well. Now this is what's known as a very upright backswing. Now from this position, the down swing normally follows suit and comes into the ball with an upright and steep position. There are advantages to having an upright swing, there are disadvantages to have an upright swing and what we're going to have a bit of a look at is how you could implement one, what advantages you can see, what disadvantages you could see and what you could change to maybe try and improve it. But that’s what this video series is all about so let's get stuck into it.
