Signs Of Trouble When Not Hitting The Golf Ball Far (Video) - by Peter Finch

If you’re considering opening your stance up to give yourself that little bit more power, what were the signs that you need to be looking for? I think there’s two parts to this that you really need to break down. Where is the problem in generating power? Is a backswing problem or is it a through swing problem? It is a backswing problem. It’s normally confirmed to a lack of term during the backswing, like rotational ability with the upper body.

Now if your finger you’re struggling with, that very simply if you just video yourself form this – from position where you look yourself in a mirror. If you’re turning back and you’re not quite able to rotate the shoulders enough, so they’re not turning at least 90 degrees to the target, that left shoulder isn’t rotating underneath the chin. You’re only going to be having a short backswing position. Now from here, it’s going to be very hard to apply the power moving down into the point of impact. So if it’s a problem with a back swing, that is where you need to focus because you need that full turn, you need that full rotation to build up enough power for coming down into the shot. However, if it’s the lower half problem, that’s where you can start considering opening up the lower body. If you’re not rotating the lower half enough, you won’t be able to build up the power and the sequence to hit the ball successfully. As you move down into the point of impact, the hip should be moving left, bumping left before turning and rotating out of the way and then the upper body following through. If that is the case – if that is the problem area that you’re having, if you’re coming through the ball and rather than rotating, the hips are sliding. But rather than rotating, the spine angle is lifting and the hips are moving forward, that’s the time to consider opening that stance a little bit by keeping the shoulder square. And this will allow you to turn your lower half a little bit better and give you that little bit of point of distance when hitting shots.
