Now let’s have a look at some ways that you can self correct your divot pattern going too far off to the left-hand side. Now one of the easiest, quickest and simplest ways of changing divot pattern is by altering ball position and setup. For example when you are looking to change path which we are here, so we're not trying to get that club moving too far off to the left-hand side too quickly. We're not trying to swing too far from out to in. One of the easiest ways to change that is by looking at ball position and actually moving it further back.

The way the swing arc works is it moves around the body like this. The further back in the stance that ball goes, the more from in to out you're going to be hitting it. Please don't hit shots like this. You won't get very good results. This is for demonstration purposes only. But the further this ball goes back you can see the more from the inside I'd be hitting it and I'd have to hit a massive, massive hook. So if you are struggling with the out to in path, you are struggling with those big divots going off to the left-hand side, the first thing that you can do, just check your ball position and make sure it's not creeping too far forward. Another thing that you can do pretty much straight away is alter shoulder alignment. So if you want to change your divot pattern from the out to the in, so to go to the left hand side. Yes check your ball position, but also check shoulder position. The more back the right shoulder is, the more forward the left shoulder is, the more it’s pointing out to the right hand side, the more likely you are to move from an inside path. That does have some issues as far as angle of attack and strike are concerned however. So just be careful and don't do too much of that. Too much medicine can be a bad thing. So those are two very, very quick ways that you can correct divot patterns. Other than that, we’re going to be looking very deeply into what is happening within the goal swing, and big technical changes that you would have to make to stop that kind of divot pattern from going too far off to the left-hand side.
