Shoulder turn in the golf swing is fundamentally important in a way of generating power. We can't possibly hit this golf ball a long way if we're not turning the shoulders and creating a coiling action from the shoulders it would be impossible to stand there and just swing the hands and arms. So we know we need to create some shoulder turn but how much and how do we regulate that shoulder turn.
Well if I set up to a golf ball from this angle the easiest way of checking shoulder rotation is to take the club and place the club over your shoulders then just cross your arms and hold onto it nice and tightly and then lean back into your golf posture. If you take an iron like I have you got the handle effectively pointing at your target so the handle points my target. During my backswing phase I want to point the handle towards the golf ball so I turn this way the handle comes round and starts to point towards the ball. Now it doesn't actually points try at it my point over there with little bit higher than the ball but it's definitely turned back about this far as the golf ball.
