Quick Swing is OK, But Keep it Consistent (Video) - by Pete Styles

I think one of the biggest pieces of feedback that you’re playing partners will often give you on the golf course, is as soon as you hit a bad shot, “You were quick on that one, you rushed that one.” It’s just a very easy thing for them to say and maybe that’s the case, maybe you were a bit quick and you were a bit fast, but if you got a natural fast tempo to the golf swing or fast tempo to life in general, you might walk quickly, you might put your bag down quickly, whip your club out quickly, you should be expected to hit the golf ball quickly. Then when you play in partner says, when you rush that one, then you try and slow everything down, but if slow doesn’t work for you, that’s a bit of a problem.

So being quick is okay, as long as you are quick and consistent. I think the problem becomes when you are a slow golfer and you don’t do things quickly, but then under pressure you start to quicken up and you get too fast. That’s when you can really get into a bit of difficulty. So if you’re a quick golfer, don’t let your playing partners put you off, as long as you are quick and good, and you’re quick and consistent. Having a fast brisk tempo, setting up quickly, fast practice swing and hitting the golf ball quickly, nothing wrong with that at all, as long as you keep doing that first tee to 18th green. Being quick is okay, just be quick and consistent.
