Implementing Big Muscles During The Golf Swing (Video) - by Peter Finch

When we're looking at implementing different muscles throughout the golf swing, the first thing is to identify is what shot you actually want to hit. Now we’ve spoken about how to evaluate what muscles to use, what muscles are used when, so in different shots you can actually play. This particular video, what I really want to talk about is a quite specific example of how you can change different muscle groups to your using to really alter technique and to really alter what the shot is going to be doing.

For example, if I am going to get set up and I want to play, let’s say a draw shot; so I want to play a quite specific draw shot, how can I identify and use different muscles within my body to try and enable me to actually do that? Well if I say, focus on the shot more along my right shoulder to my right chest around my right shoulder grouping. If I get set up here and I kind of bend down towards my target. I'm going to take it to the top of the backswing and I need my club to moving on a path which is high on the inside moving over to the out of the target line and actually getting that club face slightly close to that path to draw it around. How can I use a big muscle group to try and ensure that happens? Well, if I’m going to get set up and I take it up to the top. If I focus on moving my right chest and my right shoulder lower down, that automatically will move my club in to a lower position allowing me to move from more of an inside path, actually turn through and deliver that club from a different position. You can use your muscles to deliver more effortless power, you can use your muscles in different situations, you can really use different muscle groups to try and get you in different positions throughout the swing. There is so much to be said about having strength, there is so much to be said about having that strength coupled with good flexibility. Give it a go, hopefully you will improve and use your big muscles more effectively.
