When you are approaching a tee shot quite often the game can give you some mental challenges. There is lots of opportunity when you are standing over a tee to make some good decisions, but also chances where you might make some bad decisions. First thing I'd like to consider is you should always have a target. So when you stand on the tin you look down there towards the green or towards the hole the target my appeared to be quite obvious Well I'm going to weigh in for the middle of the fairway but you've got to consider the middle of the fairway might not actually be the best place for you to aim. Sometimes the golf course is going to ask you certain questions it might be where the bunker is where the water house it is. So we don't always have to aim down the center but we do have to do is always pick a target and it should be quite a specific target bit a tree in the end of the fairway or a stripe on the grass.

Something that we're aiming for it's not to say you're always going to hit it but if you don't give yourself a small target chances are you've got no chance of hitting If you're just naming something out there in the middle of the fairway there's very little chance you're actually going to hit the intended target you want the next consideration is we've got to have safety 1st. So when we look at our target we want to look down there we want to think where the danger is where the wall trees where the bunker is and if you've got the middle of the fairway here and the big pond here but then to this side there's just lots of light lots of nice so the semi rough shortish grass the middle of the fairway. This is not necessarily the place where we should be I mean look at where the danger is safety 1st aim away from the danger and keep the ball nicely employed the next consideration should be the opportunities that the golf course gives us and trying to capitalize on those opportunities. For example if you've got a downwind hole on a nice big wide open fairway on a relatively short hole we're going to take advantage of this we're going to get the driver out we've got to get that ball in play as far down there as we can try and get a ball on the green maybe get apart maybe get a par maybe even get a birdie. There's going to be some holes later on where it's narrow where it's into a headwind we're actually hitting a drive is not the greatest option we want to get the ball in play maybe expect a bogey or double bogey but when the golf course presents you with opportunities to take advantage of them when it's a bit more dangerous. Play safety 1st but whatever you do always make sure you have a target.
