What is the best golf grip for my game? Here we are going to look at how to get your hands onto the club so you’ve got really good directional control over the club face, giving you accuracy to your golf shots. If you just stand with your hands naturally by your sides you’ll notice that they want to palm inwards to you. And if you tilt forward into the golf address position and then just let your arms dangle by — in front of you, you’ll also notice again that your hands naturally want to be palm inwards to you. So the best golf grip is one where we put your hands on as close to palm inwards to your body as possible because naturally that’s where you’re hands will return to as they pass in front of your body through impact.
And if your hands or arm palm inwards in front of you, with the clubface aiming at the target you’re going to hit really accurate golf shots. So for right handed golfers, place your left hand in a position where your fingers are pointing directly at the ground. We want to take the club between the middle joint on your index finger and just below the callus pad on your little finger. Just wrap your fingers around the back and place your thumb on top. So its general got your hands in the correct position.
Now here is a great tip for you to know that your palm eases inwards as possible to you and that your hand is on the correct position, it wont feel comfy when you first start doing this but it is the most natural correct position for you to have control over your golf club. Take a coin and place the coin between your left thumb and your hand, you must be able to pinch that coin, so we don’t want a big gap between the thumb and the hand. But the key to this really is making sure that that coin is directly across the front of the handle and that’s its not rotated to the left side of the handle or over to the right hand side.
So across the front of the handle and make sure it’s across the front of the handle and pointing to your right shoulder, that palm is now on absolutely correctly. So we’re now going to get your right hand on, we’re going to do this totally at the bottom of the handle with the fingers pointing at the ground. Again through the middle joint of the index finger and below the callus pad of the little finger, wrap the fingers round, thumb on top and then slide your right hand up so it sits on top of your left thumb and then with your left index finger and your right little finger interlock the fingers together so your hands work as one unit.
This will now get you in the right position with your palms because your left hand is on correctly. The scooped out part of your right hand will sit on top of your left thumb, your right hand will now be on correctly and you’ll start hitting some really high accurate golf shots when you’re out on the course.
