Jamie Donaldson is a Welsh professional golfer 39 years old who has been on tour for a number of years but he’s only broken through to prominence in the last few with a number of victories and also hitting the winning shot at the Ryder Cup which really catapulted him into world fame. And he has a fantastic swing and one real movement throughout his downswing, which really allows him to send the ball out there a long way and strike the ball incredibly consistently.
Now Jamie Donaldson has a good backswing nice and wide nice incarnating nothing too crazy going on and in the downswing his hips bumps towards the target and turn incredibly quickly. His hips are almost open to the target before his downswing almost reaches a halfway point.
And the actual swing whips through after his hips at an incredible amount of speed. And because of that he can strike it down very aggressively with his irons but then really whip through his driver to massive effect. It takes flexibility and it takes a lot of strength but if you can groove that position the ball can fly out there a long, long way. So the real focus has to be a movement forwards with hips, a very, very fast turn and then allowing the upper body to come along for the ride. And it really allows the rest of the swing to flow through at a much greater pace. So if you are looking to increase club head speed get those hips turning aggressively and allow that club to come a long for the ride just like Jamie Donaldson.
