Jamie Donaldson is no overnight sensation. He worked his way through European’s satellite tours and didn’t earn his European Tour card until he was past his twenty-fifth birthday. And, after making the European Tour, Donaldson lost his card and had to head back to the Challenge Tour before righting the ship and returning to the big leagues.

Beginning in 2010, Donaldson began to play with more confidence. He cracked the top 50 on the European Order of Merit in 2010 and again in 2011.

Finally, twelve years after turning pro and in his 255th attempt, Donaldson broke through and won his first European Tour event in July 2012. He captured the Irish Open at Royal Portrush. Donaldson fired a 66 in the final round to win by four shots.

The victory got Donaldson into the year’s final Major, the PGA Championship where he recorded his first top ten in a Major with a tie for 7th place.

In 2013, Donaldson won again. He secured the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, coming from two shots down at the beginning of the day to beat third round leader Justin Rose. Donaldson added a third European Tour win in 2014.

Donaldson’s play earned him a spot on the 2014 Ryder Cup team. He defeated Keegan Bradley in Sunday’s singles matches and secured the winning point for Europe. Donaldson played a limited PGA Tour schedule in 2014. However, he played well and secured his PGA Tour card for the 2015 season.

Donaldson is currently ranked 29th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
