I also don't think there's many golfers that are really happy when they open the curtains on a Saturday morning and see the wind whistling across the back yard. Then they don't skip to the driving range going “Oh goody a windy day to go and play golf.” In golf in the wind is to all intents and purposes harder it's harder physically because the golf ball goes different distances. but it's also harder mentally and I think that's where a lot of golfers almost get beaten up by the wind so if you can try and beat the wind with your mind what techniques can we use and sometimes you'll find that as a golfer you go on the golf course you hit good shots and they get good results and yet but shots and they get bad results but often in the win you might feel like if it good shots that get not rewarded you get good shots they get punished let's imagine that your one hundred fifty yards away from the flag and there's a crosswind and you take your seven iron out and you have a seven iron dead straight at the flag and as it comes off the club they thought that's absolutely perfect it felt good it flew straight towards the flag and then the wind hits it and blows it sideways plugs itself in a bunker you take two to get out the bunkers in a bubble I take two puts you make yourself a double bogey and you think how do I make double bogey from the middle of the fairway and I hit a good shot and that can be difficult to take if you know but you and the caddies kind of expect it to be in a difficult line but if you've got a good shot straight down the flag the wind hurt you and that puts you in a difficult position.

So it's that idea that good shots don't get rewarded can be a real difficult thing to take the other consideration is that golf on a windy day can be quite mentally tiring in every single shot we hit we've got another thing to think about is never a case of just pulling that seven on and go straight to the flag you've got to remember that in the next hole you've got to get there and think OK last hole went in the bunker because the wind came from this way. Now the winds coming from this way so this time I've got to do something different I've got to take into account the wind again so I need to aim over here and I need to hit a good shot I need to try and this time get rewarded for it then when you're playing into the wind OK now I've got to consider different club selections I've got one hundred fifty yards but I'm into a headwind so it's up in a seven or an eight or a six or a five OK now I've got the right club and again now I hit this shot and hopefully get rewarded by it and one last thing in the wind is that a slightly poor shot can become really expensive to a normal scenario you might think well our pull back left a little bit that'll be OK we'll catch the edge of the green but into headwind or a crosswind certainly from right to left that slight pull shot now bounces out of bounds but I've never been out of bounds on this hole before because the about these way over there I've never normally go that far but because of the wind and my slightly poor shot suddenly it's a very very expensive mistake and those three factors can make playing in the wind really really difficult trying to counter those with a positive mental approach and be a little bit more consider it if you like of how mentally draining it can be to play in the wind.
