    Born in Richmond, Virginia in 1951, Robert Edwin Wadkins is the younger brother of fellow professional golfer Lanny Wadkins. Bobby held the city junior title on two occasions, and between him and his brother they held the title for a total of six consecutive years. Wadkins had his college career at first the University of Houston, then East Tennessee State University. At the latter he achieved All-American honors.

    After turning professional in 1973, Wadkins had moderate success on the PGA Tour, although he never experienced victory, despite being in runner-up position on six occasions. He did, however, succeed in winning on both the European and Japan Tours. He has also been successful in winning on the Champions Tour. His victories on this tour have included success at the Senior Players Championship.

    As of the end of 2014, Wadkins had not achieved any wins on the PGA Tour, but had amassed prize money of $2,822,421.
