While most young professional golfers dream of qualifying for a Major, Ben Martin had the fortune to play in three professional Majors while he was still an amateur. Martin earned a trip to Augusta National for the 2010 Masters when he finished runner up at the 2009 U.S. Amateur.
Martin turned professional in 2010 and won in his second start on the eGolfProfessional Tour. Later that year he finished runner-up at the PGA Tour Qualifying School to earn his tour card for the 2011 season.
Despite making the cut in 12 of his 25 starts in 2011 but did not have enough earnings to retain his tour card. Martin returned to the Web.com Tour in 2012 and 2013. He finished second on the money list in 2013 and secured his PGA Tour card for the 2014 season.
Martin took advantage of his second opportunity on the PGA Tour in October 2014. Playing the final four holes of the tournament in four under par, including a 45 foot eagle putt on the par 5 16th hole, Martin won theShriners Hospital for Children Open.
Martin will next turn his attention to improving his performance in the Major Championships. His best performance in a Major was a tie for 26th at the 2014 Open Championship which was held at Royal Liverpool.
Martin currently ranks 64th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
