At Cleveland Golf, there has been a lot of attention given to refocusing the alignment on the flange of the putter. The new innovation has led directly to the design and release of the TFI (True Feel Innovation) 2135 putter. The raised sight line (21.35 mm) allows players to align directly and consistently with the sweet spot. As a result, Cleveland has developed a design that allows you to correctly align your putt no matter your set up. Cleveland calls it 2135. Just think of the strokes you could shave off your game if you could sink even 3 more putts per round? There are too many things to worry about when you're trying to putt to win the hole or save par. Alignment doesn't have to be one of them.
If you have ever had a putting lesson, or even just a tip from a very good putter, you were probably told to keep your eyes directly over or slightly behind the ball. For whatever the reason, this is not the easiest thing to do. Your eyes tend to line up either inside your sight line or outside. We all have different putting strokes, address positions, and club preferences. And setting up over the ball perfectly every time is nearly impossible, leading to misalignment and off-centre hits.
At first glance what came to mind was how much this alignment design looked like a firing pin in a rifle. The top of the alignment line is lined up perfectly with the center of the ball. To me, it looks like it would inspire confidence in my alignment. If all it does for you is help give you that confidence that you are aligned properly, then Cleveland has accomplished something very important. Now you can work on your stroke and make more putts.
Cleveland hasn’t had a high profile Tour staff pro since Vijay Singh. Keegan Bradley is their highest ranked Tour player, but it is unclear if he is using the TFI 2135 model at this time.
For years I used the Never Compromise Voodoo Daddy which was made and distributed by Cleveland. It was a center shafted putter which I found to be very beneficial once I had to go to progressive lenses. I still go back to it from time to time. I would love to see the TFI 2135 offered in a center shaft design.
