Lamkin’s 2020 grips are now better than ever, as they come with a Calibrate reminder. What is that, you asked? Well, every versed golfer knows that gripping the club in the right way before every shot is pretty much a pre-shot routine and a vital component of one's game. However, for many players, this is easier said than done, but don't you worry, as Lamkin has the answer “embedded” in their newest grips, which are designed to make your life a lot easier on the golf course.
Quite a few of Lamkin’s latest grips as per the company’s 2020 collection are feature-enriched with a gizmo called Calibrate. If you take a close look, you’ll see that the Calibrate-feature consists of a number of stitches (bright yellow) running the length of each grip. The color yellow was chosen because these stitches make for a reminder ridge, and this neat design trick works by giving golfers reference locations right in their hands, so they will know how to establish the exact same grip with every shot.
The thing is, there are strict rules about reminder ridges in grip, as per USGA and R&A, but the Reminder ridge in Lamkin’s new grips are totally legal, as in Tour legal, so you can use them without any problem, and yes, they are also easy to feel, not only to see, when you hold the club. The new Calibrate feature is available in Lamkin’s Sonar+ Tour, which sells for $9.49 a piece. This cutting edge grip also boasts the company's patented Fingerprint Technology, but don't worry, you won't get a microchip embedded in your grip, which reports your fingerprints back to the FBI. Lamkin’s Fingerprint Technology consists of a highly detailed micro-texture which is designed to boost both touch and feel, while offering solid traction in all weather conditions. Lamkin also sells the Sonar+ Wrap Calibrate, available for $8.49 a piece, and this grip is claimed to be the first wrap-style model with a reminder. Last but not least, you can order a version of the ST+2 Hybrid with 2 distinct zones, Fingerprint Technology and Calibrate for $10,99 apiece. What’s special about this grip is the 2-zone thing, i.e. the upper portion uses cord to enhance traction in the top hand, while the lower portion has a tacky feel. Also, the lower portion of the ST+2 Hybrid is thicker than usual, which is said to be highly popular among Tour pros.
Here’s the CEO of Lamkin Grips Bob Lamkin on the new technology:
“2020 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in our 95-year history, as we’re introducing breakthroughs both in material and design innovation. Material has been a complete gamechanger for us and the addition of Smooth Tack further exemplifies how the materials used in a golf grip can be engineered to impact performance, confidence and the lifespan of the product. With Calibrate we saw an opportunity to vastly improve the reminder / ribbed grip category, and it is, without doubt, a substantial advancement over what is currently on the market not only in performance but also in ease of installation.”
It’s worth mentioning that the ST line is highly advanced even for 2020 standards, and it includes the ST+2 Hybrid and ST+2 Hybrid Calibrate grips. Both versions are loaded with Lamkin’s latest technologies, including the patented Smooth Tack material, which is derived from the company’s Genesis material via a special formulation of sorts.
