It’s a known fact that golf players are continuously trying to produce more power and speed, i.e. the name of the game is to create more power to hit the ball farther. In order to achieve this goal, one should require a strong base and foundation, which leads to better swings. The new Tour X golf shoes are designed following this principle, as they come loaded with the latest technologies in the company’s portfolio, being aimed at providing support, traction and comfort.
There are 2 versions of the Tour X: the regular, laced, which retails for $220, and the BOA, a tad more expensive at $250. Both versions are pretty much identical in terms of performance, as they feature FootJoy’s patented PowerPlate outsole. According to the company, this latest tech innovation makes for the most stable outsole to date as it’s engineered to deliver impressive ground coverage and unmatched stability, features that allow for improved power-transfer through your swing. The new FootJoy Tour X also boasts a PowerPlate midsole/outsole system that comes with a full TPU layer with 9 LaunchPods. Marketing jargon aside, this translates in real life into increased surface-area coverage and better stability on all types of turf.
Moreover, the Tour X features a PowerStrap system for improved medial and lateral support for your foot, and needless to say, the PowerStrap also works great in terms of delivering great midfoot control. There’s also a molded TPU strap that works in tandem with reinforced PowerEyelets for a balanced and stable foundation. The Tour X is already seeing “combat”, as it makes for the shoe of choice for PGA Tour professional, Kevin Kisner, who was quoted as saying about FootJoy’s latest product that:
“This is a powerful shoe with a strong, stable foundation that allows me to max out my swing speed while staying locked to the ground”
Inside the shoe, you’ll find an OrthoLite Impressions FitBed, for optimum comfort via its special foam with 2 densities. What we’re dealing with here is an Open Cell PU Foam, a cutting edge compound that maintains its cushioning and mechanical properties throughout its life cycle, and works together with another high-tech memory foam, the Impressions Foam respectively, for creating a custom fit by taking an impression of your foot. The cherry on top is the 3D Molded Collar and Tour-Spec Stretch Tongue, for added breathability and comfort, and to make things perfect, the Tour X from FootJoy is made using high-quality leather by Pittards of England, for a supple and soft feel, and before you ask why should you waste more than two hundred bucks on golf shoes, yes, these babies are fully waterproof golf shoes.
