A relatively under developed concept in golf swing coaching is the idea of what the shoulders are doing during the golf swing. It is not something that most golfers think about, and actually it is because they are quite difficult to see. If I'm standing straight ahead looking at the camera I can't see my shoulders and as we know anything we can't see we don't think about such as I set up to the golf ball here lined up and I don't see my shoulders and during the swing I just see my left shoulder very briefly about I'm really looking at the ball my right shoulder see briefly as I turn to a follow through. Cause I can't see them I can't necessarily tell whether they're doing the right thing or whether they're in the right place or not but it's quite important that your shoulders all doing the right job. Right from the set up the shoulders have an influence because I can see my feet and I'm taking my time to line my feet up but as I grab the club my shoulders could be no where near the same as my feet my shoulders are actually more important in my feet because the shoulders set the swing path line.
So if my shoulders are very open the swing path is not very good if my shoulders are very close to the swing path is not very good. So yes your feet are important with your alignment but also consider how your shoulders play an important role in what's alignment as well as consideration is the shoulders generate a huge amount of power forwards in the golf swing. So not using your shoulders efficiently will definitely reduce your power one last concept for the shoulders is they're actually quite simple to move that quite a big section of your body and if you can get your shoulders working nicely. Not only have a powerful but very calm systems and as most golfers would take if we offer them consistency and power at the same time most golfers are going to say about the nice little combination. So as we address the golf we need to have the shoulders nicely lined up square to the feet going to set the swing path on the right line. Using the shoulders nicely in the back swing generates all the power moving the shoulders throughout the entire swing through good follow through should add power and consistency together. So this next little section we're going to look a little bit more about how important the shoulders are in the golf how they can provide consistency and accuracy which is a pretty good thing to work on a feel game.
