Even golfers that are brand new to the game and have only been down for the driving range and hit a couple of buckets of golf balls will have at one point hit the perfect sweet golf shot, the one that just zips off the club face and goes 20 yards further than every other shot and gives you no feedback, no vibration through the shaft. And the point of that shot is it must have hit the sweet spot right in the center of the golf club. There's an area in the middle of the golf club around about the size of a 10 or 50 [pounds] piece which we describe as the sweet spots. That's where the center of gravity really is on the club, it means that when you hit this part, the ball gets maximum distance, it's hit with maximum efficiency. There's very little twisting of the club, the ball wouldn't be back spinning too much, but it would be -I'm sorry side spinning too much it would be back spinning nicely.

And it really is the way the club is put together that makes that sweet spot bigger. If you have a bladed iron it is quite a small sweet spot, but a good player wants that feedback of knowing whether he's hit the middle of the golf club nicely or not. A game improvement iron would have a slightly bigger sweet spot so it's aligning the golfer to hit slightly more off center shots but still get that nice good feeling. And it's the same with the driver, driver has a nice big sweet spot particularly the modern technology with a 460cc heads, one of the things you're trying for is the bigger sweet spot. So next time you're out on the driving range, try and focus on hitting the dead center of that golf club, getting that really nice sweet contact, and hopefully the more of those good contacts you get, the more that will bring you back to the driving range to practice some more.
