1. Old Memorial Golf Club Course Review
The golf course can be tough to play, especially in the beginning, this is the most difficult part, the start I mean, as many golfers actually choose to leave after having troubles with the first four holes, but if youre confident and you listen to your caddies advice, youll pull it through and youll enjoy the round of your life. However, despite the harsh start, the Old Memorial will prove to be fair for all skill levels. Bunkers are basically everywhere and the course looks pretty intimidating from several tee boxes. There are many memorable holes to play at the Old Memorial golf club, making for a fabulous experience, not to mention the excellent staff and the awesome food . If youll ever have the chance to get an invitation here, GO and never look back, it will be an experience to remember.
2. Old Palm Golf Club Course Review
Playing the Old Palm will give you a taste about how PGA pros are doing it, i.e. golfing with a highly trained caddy each and every time, enjoying range time using Pro V1 golf balls and the whole nine yards. Truth be told, Ray Floyd managed to create something unique at the Old Palm, as the golf course features a superb layout, near perfect tee and water hazard placement, making this baby suitable for golfers of all skill levels. Just play it once and youll definitely go back for more, as the Old Palm golf club offers an enjoyable round and a superlatively satisfying experience whether youre a touring pro or a snowbird looking for a warm piece of turf.
3. Old Tabby Links Course Review
The landscape is very picturesque and if youre a nature lover, this is the place to spend a big portion of your vacation. The golf course was founded in 1992 and it wears the signature of the architects Arnold Palmer with some inputs from Ed Seay. Keep in mind that what youll be dealing with here is a private facility, meaning that its only available for members and their guests. The golf course has a rating of 73,9 and a slope rating of 139, while the design and the layout epitomizes the areas nature first philosophy. Obviously, this course was carefully shaped to respect the natural surroundings and its very playable and user-friendly if I may use these words, being ranked as one of the top eighteen ever created by Palmer.
4. Old Town Club Course Review
Despite its relatively low profile, the Old Town clubs golf course was gifted by its designer with one of the most interesting routings in golf, being a true masterpiece strategically speaking, and also with an awesome set of greens. Even if the golf course surfaced in the US top 100 best golf courses quite a few times, it somehow managed to stay under the radar, remaining one of Americas hidden gems since its inception. Maxwells routings made excellent use of the natural surrounding area, as the golf course is very effectively designed over and across the undulating terrain, concentrating on having either greens or tees elevated. There are also water hazards on the Old Town clubs course, courtesy of a single stream which runs through the property, making for a serene and gorgeous place to spend a weekend playing your favorite game.
5. Old Waverly Golf Club Course Review
As per its credentials, the Old Waverly hosted the US Womens Open in 1995 and also the 2006 Womens Mid Amateur Championship. Playing here youll have a sense of Scottish Highlands feel, as the courses layout will remind you of that Scottish old-school design if you dont count the 2 lakes which are anything but Scottish, looking more like a vintage Southern US course. Basically, the Old Waverly has the best of both worlds, being a melange between Scottish and American design as far as golf architecture goes, and thats a win-win in my book. The layout meanders seamlessly throughout the gently undulating terrain, which is rich in native grasses and pine forests, with the Lake Waverly impacting your game play on 5 back 9 holes. Youll also enjoy the fast and smooth bent grass putting surfaces, which will provide you with a challenging experience regardless of your skill level and also the excellent conditioning of the golf course. Bottom line, the Old Waverly is a classy golf resort, featuring a strong course as far as the game fundamentals go, which is among the best in the region.
6. Olympia Fields Country Club Course Review
What is known today as the North course is basically what remained intact from the original architecture; the Olympia Fields had three additional courses before the war, but they were decommissioned after WW2 as they incurred too much debt. As an interesting factoid, the second course at Olympia Fields was built from scrap, i.e. from the surviving holes of the aforementioned (decommissioned) 3, which were put together to produce the actual South course, which also features an excellent layout and provides players with a challenging experience. However, the star of the show remains the North course, as prior to the 2003 US Open it suffered a massive restoration job, with all its 87 bunkers being rebuilt, together with the greens and a modern irrigation system was put into place.
7. Omni Amelia Island Plantation Course Review
The Ocean links course was designed by architect Bobby Weed and boasts its 5 seaside golf holes, together with exhilarating views. Additionally, you can try Pete Dyes Oak Marsh, a golf course that wanders through the marsh, as its name suggests, or Tom Fazios Long Point, which features tight fairways and long, elevated greens along marsh, ocean and oak trees. Long story short, the Omni Amelia Island Plantation is a place that will provide you with a first class golf experience regardless of your skill level together with a top notch tourist resort boasting endless views of the Atlantic ocean.
8. Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate Course Review
Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate from my point of view is represented by the two golf courses, both designed by architect Greg Norman, featuring a routing/layout which is inspired after famous American and British links courses of the British Isles. Both golf courses are boasting some of the highest slope ratings in Florida and they weave through wetlands, woodlands and orange groves, making for an unforgettable golfing experience. The National and the International golf courses are 18 hole championship grade facilities, and they were designed to offer their visitors a melange of modern and traditional elements, featuring impeccable conditioning all year round. The International Golf course is a British link style design while the National features a more traditional American style design. Regardless of your choice, youll be in for a real treat, as both of them will allow you to play like a pro at a premier golfing resort in a luxury setting and a beautiful ambiance.
9. Orchards Golf Club Course Review
The golf course at the Orchards is an 18 hole regulation length, featuring 6424yards of golf from its longest tees for a 71 par, a course rating of 71,3 and a slope rating of 127. Playing here feels sometimes like a links course (which is definitely not the case), as there are numerous water hazards scattered around the property and the hidden subtleties incorporated into the routing will make you want to play the same hole over and over again, being a thinking persons golf course. As per accolades, the Orchards golf club hosted the 2010 Massachusetts Senior Four Ball championship, its most recent achievement, together with the 2004 US Womens Open and the 2002 NCAA Womens Division Finals among other.
10. Oregon Golf Club Course Review
The golf course boasts its impeccably manicured Bent grass greens, its undulating fairways and the beautiful pine trees which are scattered around the property, being designed to be in perfect harmony with the nature. Playing here youll be in for a real treat, as youll definitely enjoy Oregon Clubs picturesque landscape, the abundance of lush vegetation, the golf courses deep roughs and the Willamette river which crisscrosses the property, working wonders both in terms of strategic diversity and sheer beauty for the intrepid golfer. Theres also a beautiful rose garden which adds to the peaceful atmosphere of the golf course while the dramatic views offered by the Oregon Club are truly inspiring, helping you with the overall golfing experience. There are multiple tees for every hole, appeasing to golfers of all skill levels whilst the philosophy around the Oregon Golf clubs routing is everything for golf the way it meant to be played. As per the game-play itself, this award winning Peter Jacobson golf course is the perfect place to be for serious golfers, being relatively tough but always fair, whilst the hilly land makes it to be challenging yet not extenuating. The course is always in perfect shape, being meticulously maintained and it offers its visitors an unforgettable experience as it stretches amongst the tall pine trees, the river, the rose gardens and the lakes, providing an awesome view of Mount Hood.
