The Srixon Z 355 driver retails for $349,99 (MSRP) and it was designed and developed for unparalleled distance via the company’s proprietary technology Action Mass. Due to the Action Mass thingy, the Srixon Z 355 driver is able to deliver consistently ultra-high ball speeds shot after shot, round after round. The driver itself looks pretty good, it has a heavy feel and lots of forgiveness, making for one of the best pieces of golf gear out there. Thing is, some of the best ideas are intriguing at first sight and they also feel counter intuitive. This appears to be the case with the Srixon Z 355, as this driver is designed with a heavier clubhead in order to improve distance. By creating a head-heavy driver, Srixon achieved two additional things: first, lots of forgiveness and second, the swing became way more efficient. The idea is that the extra weight in the Srixon Z 355’s head makes it very stable when it comes to extreme misshits on the heel and toe.
Moreover, the heavier head acts like a counter balance keeping the driver on-plane during downswings, translating into more consistent strikes. Last but not least, the heavy head of the Srixon Z 355 builds momentum thus maximizing energy transfer. The heavy head works in tandem with a counter balanced shaft, increasing distance, shot consistency and forgiveness altogether in one single package. The Srixon Z 355 is sold as a game improvement driver, whilst it looks more like a better player’s piece of golf gear and that’s great in my book. The feel is obviously very head heavy, i.e. if you’re that kind of player who enjoys a higher swing weight, you’ll definitely love the Srixon Z 355. The feedback with regard to the quality of the strike is excellent as the driver tells you exactly how well (or bad) you struck the ball despite its great forgiveness levels. Bottom line, if you’re a higher handicap player looking for sheer performance in a very forgiving driver, the Srixon Z 355 has your name on it.
