Utilizing bounce angle to hit effective pitch shots is very, very important. However, you are not going to be able to utilize this if you don’t have a sound from the mental to your pitching technique to begin with. Now the first part of the pitching technique where I’m looking at shots at around 50 yards say I’ve got my sandwich here, but you can develop this and move this on, no matter what the distance of shot, is to get yourself settled in a position, which is pre-setting a lot of what is happening at impact with the full shot. So you want the heels to re-open the impact, so you set the feet slightly open as towards as they would be. You keep the shoulders nice and square to your targets line so the feet are open, but the shoulders are square. You put a little bit of weight towards the front foot and this is giving you the sensation that you are moving your weight left through the point of impact. But again because it’s not a full swing it’s quite hard to do.

So your feet are open, the shoulders are square, weight is forward, and I’m just going to put my hands ahead of the ball here, so they are opposite my left side now. This is going to ensure a downward angle of attack, but you can straighten up that shaft angle to add more loft and to use the bounce that little bit more. Now from here all I’m going to be focusing on is using this triangle between my arms and my shoulders, I’m going to be moving it back, keeping the angles there and then moving it through. Now just notice here how I’m now adding in masses amount of wrist inch, but you can do this with more power and potentially a steeper angle of attack. So I’m moving my arms away not a muscle amount of wrist inch here. I’m trying to return to the same position as I was at address and then I’m going to power and move my shoulders through scheming that bounce angle underneath the ball. Now if you can get this basic part of the shot in place and you can practice this basic technique, it’s going to allow you to use the bounce single much more effectively. So is that set up, so shoulders back in through, scheming the club underneath the ball and just chipping it away. You can use this technique on pretty much any situation that you want and hopefully it will give you that little bit more consistency around the grids.
