So in order to hit this green in regulation, we've now chosen the right club, we've looked at the wind direction, we've made sure the lies are okay. The next thing we do in our pre-shot assessments is we make sure that we’re aiming in exactly the right place. And I use the word exactly quite deliberately there, because a lot of golfers do not say where are you aiming, they say, over there, but where specifically you’re aiming, “The green, the green over there.” The whereabouts of the green, “Oh, well, I’m aiming at the flag.” And that's not always what we want to do and certainly this concept of aiming at the green is definitely not what we want to do. We've got to be a little bit more specific. A golf shot needs to be as accurately hit as possible either straight towards the flag, but not always straight towards the flag.

If you've got a green that's well guarded well protected by bunkers and the flag is tucked in one corner, we definitely don't want to be aiming at the flag unless you're very, very confident; we want to be aiming much more towards the wider section of the green in the middle of the green. And sometimes when faced with a relatively easy shot to a relatively big green, golfers will get a bit lazy in terms of where they are aiming, they just aim somewhere out there. And if you're a little distracted or you're not focused, you can then mishit that shot. It would be better as a golfer to pick a definitive target, be it the flag or be it somewhere else, but make sure you're exact. So we’d often see the better players start their routine from standing behind the ball here. They’ll hold their golf club up, and they'll actually look for something that's dead in line with where they are aiming their shot. And it will be something relatively small. It might be a patch of grass on the green, it might even be a tree directly behind where they want to aim. Then as they set up, they take dead aim with the golf club, dead aim with their feet, and they're aiming really focusing on that exact spot. They’ve taken into account the wide part of the green, the flag position, the wind direction; they're aiming exactly where they want to aim. Then go ahead and make a really good setup, and then they pull the trigger. And it's only at that point that they really focus on the exact point there, then they start to pull the trigger and commit to swinging and hitting exactly down that target line. If you can focus on better aiming, you should be able to hit more greens in regulation.
