I Feel Rushed On The Golf Course How Can I Play Faster? (Video) - by Natalie Adams

I feel rushed on the golf course, how can I play faster? Well in think at looking at this question and addressing how to play quicker, first of all what I would suggest is, that you get more ready to play your shot and you’re making your preparation to play while your playing partners are actually playing their shots and executing them. So while you’re waiting for your playing partner to play, make the decision on what club you’re going to hit, what shot you’re going to hit, have your practice swing, so you’re ready to go when you’re playing partner has played. Also just walk quicker between the ball, so as soon as your playing partner played you get ready to play, you’ve hit the shot, so get the club in the bag quickly and off you go, walk down to the ball as quickly as you can, and get yourself as close to your ball as you can without interfering with your playing partners line or with being in the way in distracting them. But I’d also say if you’ve got an effective routine before you hit, it will help you to feel much calmer, much more composed and much more ready to play.

So what I would suggest you do for your routine, is as you are approaching the ball, so you’re walking up to the ball, start to look at where you want to hit it to, start to imagine the shot that’s required, make the decision and get that club out of your bag once you’ve decided on the yardage and how you’re going to play the shot. Okay now start to have a practice swing when you are this side of the ball, make your practice swing, just one practice swing two at the most, you don’t need more than that. Now turn, look at where you want to hit the ball to, draw a line from your target to the ball, and pick something out on that line just in front of the ball. Once we’ve now picked that spot we can aim the club base, ensure your feet are in line with the grooves on the clubs and then set the feet up. Okay one look at the target and then hit the shots; and that will get you hitting really accurately long straight shots, you’ll be playing quickly, very quick with the routine. It only takes sort of 10 to 15 seconds to go through that routine. So make your decisions as you’re walking up the ball, as soon as you get into position take the club out of the bag, have a practice -- have one or two practice swings behind the ball, now aim come into the ball aim, one look at the target and play, rather than freezing over the ball or umm-ing and ahh-ing and being indecisive as to what to do. Very quick with your decision and then commit to it, whether it’s the right decision or not just make the commitment to it and then hit the shot, you’ll be playing a lot quicker, but feeling more composed, much calmer but it will speed play up.
