What Does Getting Stuck On The Golf Downswing Mean? (Video) - by Dean Butler

So, what does getting stuck on the downswing actually mean? Well, from the world’s greatest golfer, Tiger Woods is, he finds himself getting trapped occasionally into this bad position. So, let’s explain what it actually is. You're going to get yourself trapped is when you get yourself up to the top of the backswing and then you drop the club very, very much behind you so you get into this position here. Now, as you can imagine the normal swing would be coming back here and that’s where your answer will be coming. But if you go back and then you drop into here, there’s only two things that you can actually do from this position.

One, the hips stays where they are, in which case the club then comes back in and then from here it’s a big blocking action that’s going to happen, or you’re going to get yourself into this position here and then all of a sudden the hips are trying to get out of the way and they fail and then from here the hands will come in and they all roll the hands over. So, from this position Tiger Woods either hits one out there or turns one over and it’s by getting himself trapped, when he’s getting himself stuck and he’s getting the club inside too much. And that is what a trapped position is, is when the club is too far back behind you and it leaves you two options. One is that way and one is that way, depending on whether the hands roll over or wherever the hips actually slide ahead and block you out. So, hopefully you know what that means now.
