When Your Stuck on the Downswing What Are The Shots I Will See (Video) - by Peter Finch

When you get stuck on the golf downswing the number of shots that you're likely to see will involve a big block right or a big hook left. The problem with this block right, hook left can the only problem with this is that obviously opens up a large area of the course where you're going to be hitting your shots to. It can start to become very, very uncontrollable. If you’re starting on the tee shot and you’ve just lost your S-1 right and then all of a sudden you here massive snap of left you are going to be very confused as to what is happening within your swing. That's why it's such a problem because people do get confused about how they can hit one shot off to the right hand side and then another shot off to the left.

And that is all to do with club face positioning as you move through impact. So we know that the club drops down into this position, we know that the hands get low and the club gets trapped behind. Now from here as I move the body through I need to very, very, very quickly rotate the hands through the point of impact in a desperate attempt to square up that club face. Now if I don't quite manage to get those hands rotated through, I don't manage to get that club face a lot more square to target, that ball is going to go a long way off to the right-hand side. Because as I move through, club face will be pointing to the right, my swing path is moving so much from the inside, it's going to be that huge block off to the right-hand side. The opposite end of this is by getting stuck on the inside, by moving through and very quickly rotating my hands; I can get massive hooks as well. The margin for error when the club gets stuck behind you on the downswing is very, very low. You need to manage to get that club face squared with the hands and the club moving at their fastest point. It is such a hard thing to do, when you do get it right especially with the driver you can hit some a massive high bombs but most of the time you're going to be fighting the block and fighting that hook left. And that I’m afraid is not a very good combination to have.
