So you want to practice putting green. So why should you practice with just one ball. Why don’t we do what most people do? Let’s get three or four or five balls in a line. And let’s line ourselves up and have that go, a lot nice little three footer to start with. Well, the simple thing is, when you go on that golf course, how many chances do you get at that putt? One. You don’t get four chances, five chances, and we are talking about why is it better to have a one putt practice. Very simple, if you have one putt practice, the chances are you are going to that practice putting green before your gents’ competition or your friendly game with your pals, before the pop lights are on. You are going to get down. You are going to mark that ball; you are going to clean it. You are going put that ball down in the line itself and then pick them up. At this stage I hear you say “I don’t do that on the practice putting green”.

Well of course you don’t, you have three or four attempts at it, so why would you? So you are actually practicing the wrong thing for going on that golf course. Because on that golf course you’ve got one chance, that’s the arena. Here is your practice. So out here with one ball, you’ll clean it, you’ll mark it, you’ll line it up. You’ll now get down, you’ll read it, maybe you might go to the other side of the hole. You say hey this is a bit long winded this. You plan to practice the right thing, though you do that on the golf course. So having done that line, you are then going to have about 2 or 3 or 4 practice rings to fill it, and then when you’ve done all that, you are going to then approach it in the correct way. Club face on line, feet parallel, ball positioned, eyes over the top of it. And then you’ve got that one chance. Bang, in the hole. That’s why a one putt practice is so essential. Remember on the golf course, you go into the arena, doesn’t it make sense to practice in the right manner. Now most of you watching this will be saying “I’m guilty, I’m guilty, I play three balls, I just get up, I have three putts, I didn’t want to going along the line”. Although you can get down, although you can line it up, although you can clean the ball, although you can line it up although you can --. And you think yes, so what you are doing is you are just practicing a bit of putt, loosening up before the game of golf. But do you want to practice the routine correctly? And that’s what it’s all about. So the next time you are on the practice putting green, go through that procedure as if that procedure is the last putt on the 18th hole to win you the competition. What would you do? Do that on you practice putting green and that’s great practice but when you go into the arena on that golf course, trust me, it works.
